DR. DOUG KEKKONEN, DDS

Doug Kekkonen has always loved sharing the "magic" found in books with his students, his own children, and now, his grandchildren. This, along with several other factors, is significant in his writing children's books.  Dr. Kekkonen, a native of Grand Rapids, Minnesota,  attended St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He practiced family dentistry in Westminster, Colorado for 20 years until rheumatoid arthritis forced him to seek another career. Having always enjoyed working with children and being a strong proponent for the importance of education, he chose to become a classroom teacher. After completing the Teacher Education Program at the University of Colorado at Denver, he taught in public elementary and middle schools for 14 years. He enjoys traveling and spending time in the outdoors, but most of all, spending time with his wife, 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Experiences in all of these aspects of his life have contributed much to his writing.  It is his hope that his books will entertain, inform and motivate.
