Can you remember losing your baby teeth? Not surprisingly, many of us can because it is such an exciting, major event in a child’s life. For days on end, all life seems to revolve around that loose tooth. It’s difficult to keep your hands off the wiggly, wobbly rascal! It’s pretty frustrating too. After the first little wiggle, it can seem to take FOREVER to come out! And some of the unusual methods people advise for coaxing out the little wiggler; who can forget that! But, in the end, all it really takes is patience and persistence.

If you have a loose baby tooth; or, if you’re just someone filled with curiosity and excitement about the momentous event, “Wiggle, Wobble” was written for you. If you’re an adult sharing in this milestone with a child, “Wiggle, Wobble” was also written for you. Not only does it take you along on a young boy’s loose tooth adventure complete with anticipation, waiting and wacky advice, but it also shares sound dental advice and information about what and why this is happening. Welcome to the wonderful, whimsical world of wiggles and wobbles!

While caring for children in his own practice, as well as volunteering at a clinic treating under-priviledged children, Dr. Doug repeatedly heard adults asking, “How do I get my child to brush?” Knowing that dental disease not only causes pain and health concerns at an early age, but also can lead to life-long discomfort, embarassment, and expense, he began to explore ways of motivating children to practice good oral hygiene. Experiences as a dentist, a teacher, a parent and a grandparent all led Dr. Doug to include a healthy dose of the “YUCK” factor in the book.

“Doug Kekkonen’s book Wiggle, Wobble is “spot-on” to engage, entertain and educate young readers, teachers and parents about the scary but exciting event of losing a tooth. Don’t miss all the interesting information at the end of the book. I learned a lot! I loved this book and can’t wait to read it to my students!!”

Theresa V.- Kindergarten teacher

“Wiggle Wobble is an excellent children’s book about losing baby teeth. It’s descriptive, fun and easy to understand. The last page explains it all. Accurate and to the point. Simple word recognition and relating the story to a loose tooth is a great way for a child to learn to read and understand that a loose tooth is all a part of growing up.”
